This week’s album of the week features a debut record from Austin five-piece Sasha and the Valentines. Truthful to the group and album name, this is a record about love, heartbreak, and everything in between.
Drawing inspiration from acts like Tennis and Beach House, Sasha (who’s real name is Sarah Addi) & company have managed to pull together an ethereal debut album. Filled with lighthearted lyrics of love, heartbreak, and jabs at society’s current relationship landscape (check out the song “Tinder” for more of this), and paired with sophisticated indie rock and dream pop production, the album feels exactly like the process of growing up.
With so much here to love, Sasha and the Valentines are definitely an act to watch.
