The Bahia Grande unit of the refuge is getting five-point-six-million-dollars for two separate projects.

Part of the grant will fund the design and construction of breakwaters to protect three islands where birds nest in the refuge.

The second phase of funding will work to restore a natural flow of water through 670 acres of wetlands in the refuge.
