Molchat Doma is a new-wave/synth-pop band that formed in 2017. The band comes from Minsk, Belarus. This is the group’s third album release entitled Monument, and it was quite enjoyable, to say the least. The first track of the album called Utonut’ is a great opening track with its inspired 80s pop music sound. While the lyrics were in Russian, I did not mind since the song is so catchy. Obrechen is more of the same with lyrics I do not understand, but it is a still catchy song with amazing synths throughout the song and album. Discoteque is the next track and it says disco in the title, and it is not wrong because this is very disco-inspired. I can see this being played in a disco dance hall.
Ne Smeshno is a slower-paced song with this mysterious hook shouting throughout the song. Otveta Net is the next track, and it is one of my favorite tracks of the whole album. It has this moody sound to it and I quite like it. Zvezdy is this very energetic song with the up-tempo it brings. It was a nice change of pace to keep the audience engaged in the middle of the project.
Udalil Tvoy Nomer is another one of my favorite tracks with this very star gazing sound. The synthesized sounds are probably my favorite on this track. Leningradskiy Blues is a great track with amazing guitar lines by both Roman Komogortsev and Pavel Kozlov. I also really enjoyed Egor Shkutko vocals throughout this album. Anyways back onto the last track of this album with Lubit I Vypolnyat. This track is amazing with its haunting guitar lines of the whole album. It is a fantastic closing song to end this album.
This was my first time listening to Molchat Doma and I got to say as a fan of 80s music this was an enjoyable album. Each member of Molchat Doma did an amazing job with this album. I loved every song and was engaged with every song. Molchat Doma has a new fan in me and I hope they can make a new fan in you.
