Album Review: Fake It Flowers by Beabadoobee

Beabadoobee is an alternative/indie artist that was born in the Philippines. These last couple of years Beabadoobee has released four eps but no albums. Fake It Flowers is the artist’s debut album, and it is a joy to listen to. The first track of the album entitled Care is a good opening track with this 90s alternative rock sound. It is shown throughout the album how much inspiration is grabbed from the alternative rock of the 90s. Worth It is another great track that has this cheerful tone with Bebadoobee vocals. Dye It Red continues this cheerful/joyful tone, with another catchy song.

Back to Mars is an interlude that is slower paced and talks about relationship issues. The interlude/song is a nice change of pace. Charlie Brown is the next track, and it is a darker song. With the singer shouting “Throw it away” and lyrics like “If I could die here a million times, then what’s the point of trying?”. Emo Song while sounding cheerful has a dark message to it. The message of having trust issues with people and how those issues affect people’s relationships.

Tracks like Sorry, Further Away, and Horen Sarrison are great tracks that keep the listener engaged with the album. They have their messages and deliver them well. The next track How Was Your Day? Is a slower-paced song and it talks about missing an individual that is no longer in your life. Together is a nice track with a chorus I really liked.

The last track of the album is Yoshimi, Forest, Magdalene is a crazy ending track with first beginning with soft vocals then changes to heavy vocals with more grungy sounds. Overall, this album was a good debut for Beabadoobee. I really enjoyed the 90s alternative rock sound she put in this album. I think Beabadoobee has a bright future and I hope people give Fake It Flowers a listen.
