Obama appeared at the All-Star NBA Cares Event

Former President Barak Obama made an unannounced appearance this morning at the NBA Cares event in his hometown of Chicago.

The event was for volunteers to fill several backpacks with school supplies, and then work halted when Obama walked into the room.

Obama met with many of the league’s top rookies including Zion Williamson as well as second-year players like Trae Young and Luka Doncic and coaches.

Obama told Luka: “you’re doing fantastic” and then jokingly told him to not listen to Jason Kidd when it comes to shooting.

It was the first of multiple events for Obama during All-Star
weekend: He’s scheduled to host a talk with several top NBA
players on Saturday, and it’s expected that he will appear at
Sunday’s All-Star Game as well.
