The Carolina Panthers have ended Cam Newton’s season as they placed him on the injured reserve yesterday with his unclear recovery time from a foot injury.
Newton first got his Lisfranc injury in Week 2 in their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Throughout the season, Kyle Allen has replaced “Superman” for quarterbacking the Panthers and are currently 5-3 on the season.
This past Friday, Cam saw a foot specialist in Green Bay and after hearing the results, the Panthers decided to end his 2019 season to prevent his injury from getting worse in the future.
General manager, Marty Hurney, said “For the past seven weeks, Cam has diligently followed a program of rest and rehab and still is experiencing pain in his foot. He saw two-foot specialists last week who agreed that he should continue that path prescribed by the team’s medical staff and that it likely will take significant time for the injury to fully heal.”
The third quarterback with the most rushing yards and 2015 NFL MVP will help the Panthers on the sideline as they battle to get a spot in the playoffs.
