Ladies and Gentlemen, Nate Diaz is not retired.
Who claims it? Well, no other than Nate Diaz himself.
“Who said I was retired? I’ll fight tonight.”
Last week, Nate Diaz made the MMA world think he was hanging up the gloves again after comments made on his social media. “F— a rematch this s— was over before it started, I’m goin on out on tour. Peace out fight game.” Diaz wrote on his Instagram and Twitter.
And just like that, Nate Diaz appeared to be gone…BUT NOT ANYMORE!
Diaz is coming off his loss via TKO (doctor stoppage) to Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal in a fight for the “BMF” title at UFC 244. In the post-fight octagon interview, Diaz stated he wanted an immediate rematch with Masvidal and Masvidal agreed.
In an interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Diaz stated prior to his fight with Masvidal, “I’ll fight forever. I’m never going to retire.” Well, now it seems he’s staying true to his word and now only time will tell when Diaz will make his return. Masvidal is clamoring for a fight with 4-weight world boxing champion, Canelo Alvarez, so it seems the rematch is on the shelf right now with UFC President Dana White saying he isn’t interested in a rematch as well.
