It’s a tight race all around for the many awards after an exciting season of baseball.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, Houston’s third baseman Alex Bregman, and Oakland’s shortstop Marcus Semien have been named American League MVP finalists.
Trout seems to be the favorite as he is looking for his third MVP trophy from 2014 and 2016. The LA star finished second in 2012, ’13, ’15, and ’18.
Washington’s third baseman Anthony Rendon, LA Dodgers’ outfielder Cody Bellinger and Milwaukee’s outfielder Christian Yelich are the National League’s MVP finalists.
For the AL Cy Young Award, all are current or former Astros pitchers, including Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander, and Tampa Bay’s Charlie Morton.
New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is competing against Washington’s Max Scherzer and Dodgers’ Hyun-Jin Ryu for the NL Cy Young Award.
The NL Rookie of the Year race is between Mets’ Pete Alonso, Atlanta’s Mike Soroka, and San Diego’s Fernando Tatis Jr. While the runners for the AL Rookie of the Year award includes Houston’s Yordan Alvarez, Tampa Bay’s Brandon Lowe, and Baltimore’s John Means.
And finally, for the AL Manager of the Year, finalists include Yankees’ Aaron Boone, Minnesota’s Rocco Baldelli, and Tampa Bay’s Kevin Cash. For the NL Manager of the Year, Atlanta’s Brian Snitker will race against Milwaukee’s Craig Counsell and St. Louis’ Mike Shildt.
