The Miami Dolphins are getting the star corner Aqib Talib and a draft pick from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a future draft pick.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has heard that the Dolphins will be getting a fifth-round pick while the Rams are getting a later round pick.
Since Talib is currently on injured reserve, Miami basically only got a draft pick for next year, which they need after they will possibly not win a game this season. Miami does have to pay the remaining $4.2 million on his contract and then will become a free agent after this season.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has made it clear this season by the performance of his team that they are in a major rebuilding mode and are looking to get draft picks to get new talent.
On Sunday, Grier said “We’re getting calls like every team and then there’s teams calling us too trying to unload players as well. We might be (a buyer), yeah. There’s some things that might tempt us. We’ve had some conversations with teams.”
The Dolphins now have 14 total draft picks in the 2020 draft. They have 3-first rounders, 2-second rounders, and a projected 2 compensatory picks.
