Former President George W. Bush appreciates how Ellen DeGeneres handled criticism of their friendship.
The comedian and talk show host was sitting with Bush Sunday at the Cowboys-Packers game and she caught a lot of grief from the internet.
On her talk show, DeGeneres said people thought, “Why is this gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?”
The host said she’s friends with Bush, and a lot of other people who don’t share her beliefs.
A Bush family spokesman said that President Bush and his wife enjoyed being with Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi and appreciated her comments about respecting one another.
