Patriots sign Mike Nugent to replace injured Stephen Gostkowski

The New England Patriots are planning to sign veteran kicker Mike Nugent after long-time Patriot Gostkowkis was put on injury reserve.

The Patriots worked out seven kickers just over the past two days. Kai Forbath, Blair Walsh, and Elliot Fry were a few of the names to also try out to get the job.

At 37 years old, he is 253 for 311 on career field goal attempts and has played for the Jets, Bucs, Cardinals, Bengals, Cowboys, Bears, and the Raiders. Nugent has been in five playoff games, which should be appropriate for the Patriots.

On the IR, Gostowski has played for New England for 13 years and will have to have season-ending surgery. Sources say he will be ready for the 2020 season.
