An expression of forgiveness and a promise to enact reforms are part of the sentencing outcome for a former Dallas police officer.

Yesterday, Amber Guyger was sentenced to ten years behind bars after she was convicted of shooting and killing her neighbor Botham Jean [[ BOH-tham JZON ]] in his apartment last year.

Jean’s brother Brandt hugged Guyger and told her he wanted her to give her life to God and that he didn’t want her to go to prison.

Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall says some of the testimony of how her officers proceeded during the investigation is concerning and she wants Internal Affairs to look into it.
