Falcons’ Matt Ryan will get an MRI on his ankle

Atlanta’s quarterback Matt Ryan left yesterday’s game against the Rams with under 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter after being sacked by Aaron Donald.

A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Ryan will undergo an MRI on his right ankle sometime today. Despite the scary news, the Falcons don’t believe Ryan’s injury is serious.

Head coach Dan Quinn said “I know how tough Matt [Ryan] is. If there’s a chance he can go — I don’t know the extent of the injury, where we’re at yet, so I think I’ll have a better answer Monday, Wednesday, Thursday as we’re heading into the week, but I don’t know the extent of it yet.”

With such a tough loss, the team had already been struggling all year with only having one win on the season against the Eagles in Week 2.

The 38-year-old veteran Matt Schaub will start next week’s matchup against the 5-2 Seattle Seahawks.
