The Lions’ young talented running back, Kerryon Johnson has been placed on injured reserve after having knee surgery this morning.
Johnson injured his right knee in the first half of Sunday’s 42-30 loss to the Vikings. Later that quarter, he wore a brace on the sideline and then tried to stretch it out on his own power. He ended up not returning to the game and didn’t come out of the locker room after halftime.
Head coach for the Lions, Matt Patricia said “Obviously, you know how much we value Kerryon and what a great part of our offense and our team he is. He’s still here and he’s still part of all that, certainly, but on the field we’ll push forward as normal and we think we’ll get good production with Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic, and we think those guys are ready to step into roles.”
The Lions still have hope that their running back will be able to return before the end of the season.
