Blue Bell is recalling some of its ice cream because of possible contamination by bits of plastic.

The Brenham creamery has issued the voluntary recall for half-gallons of its Butter Crunch Ice Cream flavor that were produced in August at the Blue Bell plant in Sylacauga, Alabama.

A customer told Blue Bell a piece of plastic had turned up in a container of the ice cream.

An internal investigation found the problem was a broken tool at the Alabama plant.
