Reach for the Stars Conference and DisabilityResource Fair

PEN Project and Amerigroup arehosting the Reach for the Stars Conference and Disability Resource Fairon Saturday,September 14, 2019 from 10:00am to 4:00 pm at Christian Life Assembly of God Church, 5917 66th St.,Lubbock, TX.

Session topics include:

  • Managing Behavior and Building Stronger Relationships Through Structured Expectations
  • Increasing Employability Skills for Youth with Disabilities
  • How to Help Your Child Cope with Anxiety
  • Youth Panel on Self-Advocacy

Joinus as we learn practical strategies to help our children reach their full potential and visit our vendor tables to learn about local resources for children with disabilities.

The conference is free of charge. It is designed specifically for parents and family members of childrenwith disabilities and the professionalswho work with those children.Lunch is provided and child care is available for the first 20 children registered. PEN Project is a non-profit grant project of Partners ResourceNetwork, one of three federally funded Parent Training and Information Centers serving Texas parents ofchildren and youth with disabilities from the ages of 0 to 26.

The purpose of the PEN Project is to empower parents of children and youth with disabilities in their roles as parents, decision makers, and advocates for their children. Our goal is to promote partnerships throughout the state among parents and professionals, parent organizations, school districts, and service agencies. We encourage parents and professionals to work together as partners and to focus on cooperation and collaboration.We provide training, information, and technical assistance to parents and leadership development for parents and youth with disabilities.
