Sam Darnold and the New York Jets just got a new offensive weapon in Demaryius Thomas. The trade involved the Patriots getting a 2021 sixth-round draft pick.
This is actually the first trade between the AFC East rivals since Patriots head coach Bill Belichick took over in 2000. The last trade between these two was when Belichick left the Jets to join the Patriots and New York actually got a first-round pick.
The 31-year-old veteran Thomas will join a young receiver core with deep threat Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, and the flexible Jamison Crowder. Last season, Thomas played with Houston and tore his Achilles in the late season, leading for the Texans to release him in February. The Patriots then signed him in April.
