The Los Angeles Angels have said Mike Trout’s will have season-ending surgery on his right foot.
Trout’s foot has Morton’s neuroma which is thickening tissue around the ball of the foot to create a burning pain of numbness.
“I kind of knew when I first got my MRI a few weeks ago that I would probably need surgery at the end of the year to get it removed,” Trout said yesterday. “Just got worse. We tried everything. The training staff has been awesome. Some days it would feel good. Some days, once the thing cleared up, it was tough to walk.”
This season, the eight-time All-Star had a career-high of 45 home runs and 104 RBIs, putting him in good standing to win his third AL MVP award.
