Jets’ QB Sam Darnold Diagnosed with Mono

New York Jets’ QB Sam Darnold has been diagnosed with mono and will miss the Monday night game against the Cleveland Browns and could miss up to three more weeks.

Mono is a saliva transmitted illness that is commonly referred to as the kissing disease. The various symptoms include major fatigue, fevers, and possibly rashes.

With Darnold missing, the Jets’ back up QB is Trevor Siemian and this is his first year with the team. He had previously played for the Denver Broncos for two years and then played last season with the Minnesota Vikings. New York will most likely sign another QB shortly from either free agency or from their practice squad.

For now, Siemian will be looking for much assistance from Le’Veon Bell as they will have to face off against the Browns on Monday, then the following weeks will be against the Patriots and then the Eagles.
