Former Football player Wendell Brown released from Chinese prison

Former Ball State University and CFL football player Wendell Brown was released from prison in China after three years.

In September of 2016, Brown was arrested for a bar fight and imprisoned in Chongqing, China. He was actually teaching football in China during that time.

The Detroit hero had been in prison for almost two years before he received a four-year sentence in June of 2018. Fast forward to last November, a GoFundMe was funded by his former Ball State friends and teammates to reduce the sentence to three years.

Brown told the reporters of DTW this morning, “I’ve been waiting on this moment for years. I’ve dreamed of this moment.” “Anyone who supported me in any way … I thank you,” Brown continued. “It’s only because of these people, and their love, and their support, and their positive energy, and their prayers and the power of God that I’m standing here today.”
