The Carolina Panthers have listed QB Cam Newton out for their game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Kyle Allen has been named the starter after Newton seemed to sprain his left foot last week against Tampa Bay. Cam had not gone to practice all week and had been wearing a boot during team meetings.
Head coach Ron Rivera said “he’s actually coming along well, the unfortunate part was last week he was playing on a short week and the foot didn’t have time to come back, as far as I understand it. It was pretty sore. It was just one of those things where we have to wait it out and see where it is [next week]. “
With all of his injuries, Newton has only missed seven starts since he began his NFL career in 2011.
The former Texas Aggie and Houston Cougar 22-year-old, Kyle Allen will play his third career game as the starter this Sunday. He will look to bring energy to Carolina to get them out of the 0-2 hole they have gotten in.
