Brewers’ Christian Yelich Won’t Need Surgery

Milwaukee’s All-Star outfielder and slugger Christian Yelich fractured his right kneecap Tuesday night and will miss the rest of the season.

The Brewers have confirmed that he has fractured right patella but will actually not need to undergo any surgery. There is no suspicion of any long-term effects from the injury and he plans to be ready for Spring Training.

Yelich tweeted out earlier today, “Thank You to all those who have reached out over the last couple days it means a lot. Frustrating way for a season to end but these things happen in sports. I will be just fine and am looking forward to making a full recovery and supporting the boys the rest of the season.”

This season, Yelich was looking to become a back to back MVP Award winner. He was leading the league in slugging at .671, on-base plus slugging at 1.100 and total bases at 328. The stud had also broken many franchise records including slugging (.671), at-bats to home runs at 11.11, and weighted on-base average with a .441.
