Wade Miley started on the mound for the Astros last night and only threw 31 pitches. In that short stint, he let up 5 hits, a home-run, and 5 runs in the top of the first. Reliever Cy Sneed quickly comes in to stop the bleeding for the inning.
In the next inning, Seattle Mariners’ Austin Nola hits a 386-foot, 2-run bomb to make the score 7 to 0. To make the game interesting, the Astros come up with a run on a wild pitch thrown by Marco Gonzales in the bottom of the inning.
Then in the bottom of the 3rd, Alex Bregman hits in his 98th RBI of the season with a double to deep left field to make the score 7 to 3 Mariners.
Fast forward to the bottom of the 6th, rookie Kye Tucker hits his first home run in only his 3rd game in the majors. Josh Reddick continues the momentum with another homerun shortly after Tucker to bring the score within 2 runs.
Austin Nola has had enough, so in the next inning, hed decides to hit another homer to set the Mariners up 8 to 5 in the 7th inning.
We go to the bottom of the 8th where Jose Altuve hits a triple to deep right-center field to bring in two and then Michael Brantley hits a sacrifice fly to bring in Altuve to tie the game.
After some tough pitching, the two teams battle on to get into the 12th inning without any runs, until Mariners’ Kyle Seager homers to left field to have the advantage on Houston. Again, rookie Kyle Tucker proves he’s ready for the bigs as he hits a 2-out single to right field to bring in a run.
As Houston fans wish they brought a pillow and blanket for this four hour and forty-minute game, Astros’ Michael Brantley hits a 400-foot, 2-run homer to tie his career-high of 20 home runs in the season.
“Uncle Mike” Brantley and the Astros host the Mariners again tonight at 7:10 and tomorrow at 6:10.
