Yesterday, the Astros defeated the Rangers 4-1 in their first of two games.
It was a pitchers showdown as Justin Verlander faced off against Lance Lynn. Verlander ended up allowing only 4 hits in 6 innings. While Lynn allowed 7 hits and 4 runs in 7 innings pitched.
Catcher Robinson Chirinos led the Astros with 2 hits and had a triple on the night. Rookie Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, and Yuli Gurriel all had homers to lead the Astros to their 99th win on the season.
The Rangers’ Nomar Mazara had 2 hits and a home run in the loss. Texas has now lost four games in a row. They will put Kolby Allard on the mound tonight to try and improve their 74-78 record.
The Astros and Rangers play again tonight at 7:10 at Minute Maid Park.
