Texas Tech women’s golfer Sofia Garcia is set to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup at The Alotian Club in Roland, Arkansas this weekend.
The tournament, currently in its 23rd year of competition, is a Ryder Cup-style event that will pit the top women’s and men’s collegiate golfers from the United States against their colleagues from across the globe in a co-ed format.
Garcia is competing for the first time after the conclusion of her sensational sophomore campaign where she set multiple program records. Her scoring average of 71.56 is the lowest in Tech history, while her final round of 64 at the BYU at Entrada Classic in March set a new program low for a single round.
In 12 tournaments, Garcia won a program-leading three individual titles and six top-five finishes. Her efforts throughout the year earned her All-Big 12 honors and a second team All-America nod.
