Jung Named All-American by CB Newspaper

Texas Tech baseball’s Josh Jung has been an All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (CBN), the publication announced today.

Jung was recognized as a second team member by CBN for the second-consecutive year. This is the 10th All-America award of his career after earning five in 2018 and four freshman All-America awards in 2017.

The Big 12 Co-Player of the Year, Jung ranked among the league leaders in a slew of offensive categories. He enters the postseason second in the conference in runs scored (55), doubles (21) and RBI (53) while ranking among the league leaders in on base percentage (3^rd), slugging (4^th), walks (2^nd), home runs (7^th) and batting average (7^th).
 
A San Antonio, Texas, native, Jung’s move from third base to shortstop helped solidify the Red Raider infield and propelled the team to a strong stretch run that culminated in the team’s third Big 12 title in four years.

For his career, Jung ranks fourth in school history with 245 hits, 19 behind volunteer assistant coach Eric Gutierrez. He is also seventh in doubles (52), fifth in RBI (176), sixth in runs scored (179) and fourth in walks (144).

Jung and the No. 8 Red Raiders open the NCAA Lubbock Regional at 3 p.m. Friday against fourth-seeded Army West Point.
