Last Saturday, Cade Foehner performed at the Cactus Theater here in Lubbock. The East Texan native is known for performing on American Idol, where he placed in the Top 5. After seeing him perform, it was easy to see why Katy Perry liked him.
His set list was a multitude of covers, ranging from Areosmith to Foster the People. However, he also played two of his original songs, the recently released “Southern Hallelujah” and an unreleased song dedicated to his fiancé, Gabby Barret. What amazed me during his performance were his skills on guitar. I honestly believe that he is the Texan Slash. He was that good. There was a funny incident that happened during the show. After the first song, he said that he forgot to bring a pick on stage. After asking one of his bandmates for one, a man from the audience lent him his pick.
After his show, he did a meet and greet with the audience. I was fortunate enough to talk to him after the show. I told him that he did an awesome show, and I really enjoyed it. I did ask him to do a Jimi Hendrix song when he performs again (watch his performance of ‘All along the Watchtower on American Idol. You’ll see what I mean). He thanked me and apologized for not doing Hendrix. He was a great guy to talk to.
Cade Foehner put on a great show last Saturday at the Cactus Theater. Currently, he is working on his first studio album and is going on tour with country star Chris Lane. I look forward to his next performance here in Lubbock.
