An arrest warrant was released Monday concerning the shooting and injury of a Texas Tech football player early Saturday evening. A woman was also shot and injured in the same incident.
The warrant describes the events leading up to the shooting in the 1800 block of Glenna Goodacre Boulevard.
Asia Jackson, 24, was charged with aggravated assault.
The warrant for his arrest said there was a crowd of people enjoying the day at a pool.
“It appears that Asia Jackson was struck by water from a pool party and subsequently became angry and involved in an argument with John Scott,” the warrant said. Scott, 19, is a defensive lineman for Texas Tech.
It also said, “Jackson is reported to have walked away for a few minutes and returned… removing a pistol from the shorts he wore, ‘waving’ it around, and deliberately firing the pistol at John Scott, striking him and Kiana Pipkins…”
Jackson then left, according to the warrant.
The warrant said Jackson posted on Facebook that he was not the shooter. But police had access to clear surveillance video and they believe it matches Jackson.
As of Monday morning, Scott was listed in satisfactory condition at University Medical Center. Pipkins was released from the hospital after she was treated for her injury.
