Residing among the nation’s leaders for the ninth straight week, the Texas Tech softball team (33-8, 6-6 Big 12) tied a program record following the release of this week’s national rankings.
The last time Tech was ranked in the top 25 for nine consecutive weeks was in 1998 and 2011. The Red Raiders posted a 45-19 overall record in 1998 and went 42-16 during the 2011 season.
The Red Raiders checked in at No. 12 in the USA Today/NFC Coaches Poll – the highest ranking for the Red Raiders in that specific poll – and No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll. Softball America, in its first year of existence, ranked Tech as the 16th team in the nation and the Red Raiders clocked in at No. 18 in the NCAA Women’s Softball RPI.
The Red Raiders continue conference action this week with a three-game series at Rocky Johnson Field against the Kansas Jayhawks on April 18-20. For all the latest information on the Texas Tech softball team, visit TexasTech.com or follow @TexasTechSB on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
