The Seattle Seahawks have made quarterback Russell Wilson the highest-paid NFL player ever. They reached agreement on a four-year, $140 million extension that includes a $65 million signing bonus the largest ever and makes the quarterback the highest-paid player in the NFL, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday morning.
With the four years added to his contract, Wilson, 30, is contractually tied to the Seahawks through the 2023 season, the source said. The deal also includes a no-trade clause. Wilson will make $35 million per season under his new contract.
His contract beats out Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the most money ever. Rodgers makes $33.5 million every season, with Russell earning $1.5 million more per season.
His $65 million signing bonus is also a record, as it is the largest signing bonus ever given to an NFL player.
