The No. 11 Texas Tech baseball team closes out its road swing with a familiar foe today as they travel to Durham, N.C. to take on Duke at 5 p.m. CT at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The midweek contest will feature a rematch of the 2018 Lubbock Super Regional that saw the Red Raiders win two of three games to advance to the program’s third College World Series in the last five years.
The Red Raiders (23-11, 6-6 Big 12) will meet the Blue Devils (20-16, 8-10 ACC) for the fourth time in the all-time series on Tuesday. Tech enters the matchup with a 14-10 all-time record against teams from the ACC.
Duke is Tech’s sixth nonconference opponent from another Power Five league this season. Tech has already met Mississippi State and Kentucky of the SEC, Nebraska and Michigan of the Big Ten and Oregon out of the Pac-12. The Red Raiders have compiled an 8-3 record against the collective group.
Texas Tech is ranked as high as No. 16 this week by three different polls. After beginning the season as high as No. 3 in the preseason rankings, this is Tech’s first week outside the top 15 this season. Tech is No. 15 in the RPI and 16th in strength of schedule.
