The No. 15 Texas Tech softball team powered 11 hits in an 11-6 win over Baylor to achieve its first three-game sweep over the Bears in program history, Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.
Trenity Edwards and Taylor Satchell led the Red Raiders with one home run each while Satchell paced the pack with four RBI. Eleven Red Raiders successfully reached base and three hitters – Karli Hamilton, Peyton Blythe and Satchell – tallied a pair of hits.
Thanks to a solid defensive effort in the field and strong pitching performance from junior transfer Missy Zoch, the Red Raiders entered the bottom of the fifth inning with an 8-0 lead. Though Baylor tried to make a comeback after a Tech pitching change, Zoch re-entered in the final frame of the game and secured the win to improve to 14-5 this season.
With the win, Tech eclipsed its 31-28 mark from last season and moved to 33-8 and an even 6-6 in Big 12 Conference play.
The Red Raiders return home to Rocky Johnson Field to host the Kansas Jayhawks in a three-game conference series on April 18-20.
