No. 11 Texas Tech baseball team doubled up New Mexico State, 10-5, Tuesday in front of 5,399 fans at Security Bank Ballpark in the team’s annual trip to Midland, Texas.
The Red Raiders (22-9), who posted a 7-0 shutout of the Aggies (21-10) earlier this season in Lubbock, received a two-run home run from junior Josh Jung and an inside-the-park homer from freshman Max Marusak to fuel them to the win.
Tech outhit what entered as the nation’s top scoring offense, 12-5, with all but one starter in the lineup recording a hit. Meanwhile, freshman starter Mason Montgomery (3-0) limited the Aggies to just two hits over five innings on the way to his third win of the season.
With the win, Texas Tech improves to 6-0 in Midland under head coach Tim Tadlock with each of the last three victories coming against the Aggies. The Red Raiders have won nine in a row against NM State overall and 16 of the last 17.
