No. 10 Texas Tech baseball concludes a nine-game home stand with a two-game midweek series against UTRGV on Tuesday and Wednesday at Rip Griffin Park.
The two clubs will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest Plus and again Wednesday at 2 p.m. on TexasTech.TV. Both contests can be heard on the Texas Tech Sports Network on 97.3 FM, the 97.3 app, the TuneIn app and at TexasTech.com.
The Red Raiders (29-13, 11-7) are 6-1 in their home stand with six straight wins, one shy of their longest winning streak of the season. Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park has provided Tech with a tough home field advantage as Tech is 21-4 at home.
Tech has seven sellouts on the season with two last weekend to help the Red Raiders earn a three-game sweep of No. 16 Oklahoma State. The pitching staff compiled a staggering 46 strikeouts and Tech outscored the Cowboys 27-8 for its second sweep of a top-25 team this season and third of OSU in the last four years.
UTRGV (28-14) is also coming off a three-game sweep and has won five of its last weekend series. The Vaqueros currently sit atop the Western Athletic Conference standings with a 14-4 mark in league play.
Friday will mark the 40th meeting between the two programs. Tech is 12-3 all-time against the Vaqueros in Lubbock, but trail the overall series 19-20. The two teams met last season in Edinburg, Texas, for the first time since 2009 with Tech taking a 3-1 win. Since 2002, Tech has won all six meetings.
