Tiger Woods, 43, entered the final round of the Masters having to come from behind to win. He had played pretty good golf leading into the final round, and the pressure was on as he started making moves, and inched closer and closer to the top.
Competing against such talents as Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Jason Day, all players who grew up watching Tiger and idolizing him, the amount of stress a golfer goes through in these moments are tough…unless your Tiger.
He showed us the vintage Tiger that had been missing for the last 11 years. He was happy, he was calm, he was playing his game, and that is what is dangerous for other golfers. Once Tiger took the lead, he wasn’t letting it go. He put the pressure on the other players. He made the field try to beat him, and when you’re the greatest ever in your respective sport, such as Tiger, the pressure is never too much.
We got to see Tiger at his best. Even if this Masters is the last major he ever wins, we got to see at least one more time, why he changed the game. The moment he knocked in that last put, the crowd went crazy, the emotion that had been bubbling up, burst into cheers of joy, and the way Tiger hugged his family and walked to the clubhouse, we may never see such a moment like this in sports ever again.
Congratulations, Tiger, you earned it.
