Hamilton Earns Third Big 12 Player of the Week Nod

After a solid performance against the Kansas Jayhawks last week, junior Karli Hamilton earned her third Big 12 Player of the Week award this season, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Hitting an even .500 on the week, Hamilton paced the Red Raiders with six hits while she powered one home run, two doubles and three RBI against the Jayhawks. Additionally, she led the league with 11 total bases and tied for the No. 1 spot in the conference with five runs – 1.67 runs per game – and two stolen bases.

The Houston native collected one single, one double and came around to score once in game one and she went 2-for-4 in game two with one single and a double. Hamilton came around to score two of Tech’s 10 runs to even up the series in game two.

On Saturday, the junior helped Tech clinch the series with several great grabs in center field that kept Kansas off the board for six consecutive innings. She did her job at the plate as well and led the Red Raiders with two hits – a single and a two-run home run – a steal and two RBI.

After the weekend, Hamilton ties for second in the league with 63 hits on the year. She leads the conference with six triples and comes in third with 48 runs scored and 106 total bases. Hamilton paces all Big 12 hitters in conference play with 24 hits and she ranks fourth through 15 games with a .462 conference batting average.

The Red Raiders continue Big 12 action with a key conference series at Oklahoma State on April 26-28 in Stillwater, Okla. For all the latest information on the Texas Tech softball team, visit TexasTech.com or follow @TexasTechSB on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
