Felicity Maltby Named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week

Senior Felicity Maltby was named this week’s Co-Player of the Week by the Big 12 Conference for her outstanding performances this weekend against Baylor and No. 7 Texas.

The senior led the No. 29 Lady Raiders with a 2-0 singles performance and a 1-1 doubles performance. She improved to 6-1 in singles against league opponents.

On Thursday against Baylor, Maltby and her doubles partner Nell Miller clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory on court one. Maltby went on to capture the third point of the match with her 6-2, 6-1 singles victory over Jessica Hinojosa on court one.

After dropping the first set, 7-5, to Texas’ No. 17 Bianca Turati, Maltby earned Tech’s only point of the match when she forced a third set with a 6-4 win in set two. Maltby dominated in the tiebreaker third set as she cruised to a 10-4 tiebreaker win.

The win was her highest ranked win of her career.

The Lady Raiders close out the 2019 regular season as they host No. 30 Oklahoma and No. 11 Oklahoma State this weekend. Texas Tech welcomes the Sooners on Friday for a 5 p.m. first serve. The Lady Raiders will face the Cowgirls on Sunday on Senior Day. First serve is set for noon.
