Many Red Raider fans are preparing to make the trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the NCAA Final Four tournament game against Michigan State.
With many Twin Cities hotels already selling out, alternative accommodations like Airbnb are expecting to see a sharp increase in customers.
In anticipation of this, Airbnb put out a news release to warn potential travelers about third-party scams, looking to take advantage of basketball fans.
Airbnb says they’ve seen a rise in attempts by bad actors to entice guests by people who falsely claim to be a part of the Airbnb system.
These scam artists will claim their rental is managed by Airbnb or attempt to fool customers with falsified Airbnb pages in order to give credibility.
Airbnb says the best way to avoid these criminals is keeping your communications and payments strictly with Airbnb.
They said in their release: “Airbnb will never ask you to pay anything outside their site, through email, or a third party booker.”
