The No. 13 Texas Tech baseball team wrapped its five-game home stand with a 5-4 victory over Stetson Monday afternoon at Rip Griffin Park.
The Red Raiders (16-6, 1-2) rebounded from a disappointing effort on Sunday to bounce the Hatters (9-14) thanks to a strong start from sophomore right-hander Bryce Bonnin (2-0), who delivered a career-high 6.1 innings of one-hit ball.
Tech held a 5-0 lead through six before Bonnin exited the game. Stetson put up a pair of runs in the seventh and eighth to pull within one, but sophomore right-hander Ryan Sublette threw the final inning to close out the win and earn his first career save.
Sublette got a pair of fly balls to work around a one-out single. With two away and the tying run on second, he earned a strikeout swinging for the final out of the game.
The Red Raiders will continue Big 12 play next weekend with a trip to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on Kansas State. The three-game series begins Friday with a 6 p.m. first pitch from Tointon Family Stadium.
