The following is a news release from Texas Tech University:
The Texas Tech University School of Music, housed within the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, will host the 43rd Annual Scholarship Gala, beginning at 6 p.m. March 1.
Ensembles will perform in the Texas Tech School of Music Hemmle Recital Hall, 2624 18th St., and in the Red Raider Lounge in the Student Union Building.
The event celebrates all those who donate to School of Music scholarships as well as all music student scholarship recipients.
All proceeds from this annual event will help the Friends of Music at Texas Tech fund future scholarships.
The gala will feature performances from various ensembles in the School of Music, including the Collaborations Faculty Chamber Music ensemble, the newly formed Ensemble Bravura and all four of the School of Music’s choirs: the University Choir, Women’s Chorale, Matador Singers and University Singers.
The concert is presented by Friends of Music, the primary patron group of the Texas Tech School of Music.
Through multiple annual events, Friends of Music contributes regularly to providing much-needed scholarship support to music students.
General admission tickets to the concert are $25 (plus fees). The concert will be free to Texas Tech students with valid ID and children under the age of 12. Tickets for the concert are available either at the door prior to the performance, or at the Eventbrite website.
An interlude, complete with refreshments, as well as a postlude immediately following the performances is complimentary with a gala ticket.
Attendees are encouraged to mingle among the ensembles and may take advantage of the opportunity to donate to the Friends of Music Scholarship Fund.
