Haslet, TX — A suspected “porch pirate” is under arrest after taking the bait a Haslet homeowner left him.
The homeowner left a box of rocks on his front porch, and sure enough, two men stole it on Monday, and were caught on surveillance video.
They returned the box the next day with a note of apology inside. The note was signed with a fake name but with a real phone number alongside it.
Detectives tracked down the owner of the number and arrested him for theft.
They’re still looking for the other suspect.
