Texas Tech volleyball defeats West Virginia

 

The Texas Tech Red Raiders hosted the West Virginia Mountaineers inside the United Supermarkets Arena.

Tech won in 4 sets led by Freshman Brooke Kansas who led the team in kills with 14, Senior Missy Owens who dished out a season high with 51 assists and Sophomore Emerson Solano who had 20 digs. “I just tell myself to get every ball I can, obviously if you can’t get the ball up you can’t run your offense”. Solano said.

The Red Raiders dominated the first and fourth frames and split the middle to win the match, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16. In the first set they won handily and then had to fight tooth and nail during the 2nd and 3rd set, finally in the 4th set they won in impressive fashion to close out the match.

Tech has won seven straight games improving to 13-3 with 2-0 conference play which hasn’t been done since the 2000 season. Tech looks to win its 3rd conference game Friday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. against Iowa State.
