The Red Raider hosted the Iowa State Cyclones inside the United Supermarkets Arena. Tech won in 4 sets lead by Junior Emily Hill’s season high 18 kills along with 3rd biggest crowd in Tech volleyball history with 1,618.
Tech started off slowly losing the first set 22-25 then bounced back over the next three winning all of them 26-24, 25-15, 25-18. “We got a little momentum and next thing you know we’re right there and we stole the set. The momentum carried us through from then on”. Tom Graystone said.
During the match, we also go to see history as Senior Missy Owens recorded a season-high 57 assists which led to her 3,000-career assist for her collegiate career. “Let’s make it clear, we aren’t going anywhere as a program, making the changes we have without Missy as out setter”. Graystone said.
Tech has now won 8 games in a row and starts off the season 3-0 in Big 12 play which they haven’t done since 2000. Tech’s next game is at home against Kansas State on Wednesday, Oct. 3 and looks to continue their winning streak.
