Texas Tech Soccer Defeats Iowa State

(LUBBOCK) The Texas Tech Red Raiders hosted the Iowa State Cyclones inside the John Walker Soccer Complex.

Tech won 3-0 behind goals from Junior Midfielder Jayne Lydiatt in the 21st minute, Sophomore Forward Ally Griffin in the 65th minute, and Freshman Forward Charlotte Teeter in the 85th minute.

Sophomore Goal-Keeper for Iowa State Dayja Schwichtenberg had her work cut out for her as the Red Raiders came out very aggressive with their attack, they took 23 total shots and 11 of them were on goal.

The Red Raiders played lights out defensively only allowing 3 shots on goal and controlling most of the time of possession in both half’s. “It’s a big statement we played 5 of our 6 defenders in 2 games of 36 hours and for them to be that good at blocking shots, denying crosses, and fillings lanes it was a great accomplishment for them”.

Tech improves to a 9-2 overall record with a 1-1 record in Big 12 play and will look to improve that as they travel to Norman on Friday September 28th to face-off against the Oklahoma Sooners at 7 p.m.
