Sunspot Observatory, Post Office Closed Down

(Sunspot, NM) — The National Solar Observatory and the U.S. Post Office in Sunspot are closed until further notice.

Otero County Sheriff Benny House says last Thursday FBI agents shut down the observatory and the post office.

Federal investigators are tight lipped and have so far not revealed the motive for the closures.

For now, the Sunspot post office is doing business out of the nearby Cloudcroft post office north of town on Sunspot Highway in the Lincoln National Forest east of Alamogordo.
