Questions Raised About 95 Graves Found In Fort Bend County

(Richmond, TX) — Community activists say they want to know what will become of human remains found at the construction site of a school in Fort Bend County.

The 95 graves were found to be those of former slaves who were put to work on a prison farm more than 100 years ago.

Members of the National Black United Front met with Fort Bend ISD Superintendent Charles Dupre on Monday.

They asked him what will happen to the remains, what efforts are being made to find living relatives, whether a memorial ceremony is planned, and whether a monument or museum will be placed at the site, as well as other questions.
