House Set To Vote On Concealed Carry, Background Check Bill

(Washington, DC) — The House is considering a bill to expand gun rights. The bill would force states to recognize concealed carry permits from any other state. It is a top priority for the National Rifle Association and has wide support from Republicans. But since leaving committee, the proposed legislation has been combined with an additional bipartisan measure to update the federal background check system, leaving House Democrats in a tough spot. The second part of the bill would close holes in the system that was exploited by a Texas gunman who killed 20 people at a church in November.
