(Undated) — Democratic Senator Chris Coons from Delaware is urging bipartisanship as Congress tries to pass a budget. Coons delivered the weekly Democratic Address where he stressed that Republicans aren’t doing enough to make sure ideas on the other side of the political aisle are taken into account in the budget. Coons said some of the things that need to be funded are the Children’s Health Insurance Program, disaster relief funding for states recovering from hurricanes and fires, and the Dream Act. The Delaware Democrat called these items common sense. Coons emphasized that passing another so-called continuing resolution is just kicking the can further down the road. He closed by saying that keeping the government open doesn’t have to be hard or partisan.
