CDC Says 2017 Flu Season Gets Off To Fast Start

Flu Season

(Atlanta, GA) — Flu season is getting off to a fast start this year. The Centers for Disease Control reports widespread flu activity in seven states involving nearly ten-thousand confirmed cases. Infectious disease specialists say it appears the dominant strain will be H3N2, which can cause severe illness. Experts also worry because the current vaccine was only about ten percent effective against the same virus during Australia’s 2017 flu season. The CDC says it’s always better to get a flu shot, even if this year’s vaccine is not a perfect match.
