(Undated) — Bitcoin is trading above 16-thousand-500 dollars after the first full day of bitcoin futures trading on the CBOE exchange.
The digital cryptocurrency January contract is trading at around 18-thousand dollars. It’s a steep rise for a currency that started the year valued at around a thousand dollars. Another futures launch is set for next week by the CME Group exchange.
Time News reported that “It’s been painful for investors stuck on the sidelines. This year alone, bitcoin is up more than 17-fold. The surge has been driven largely by demand from individuals, with technical obstacles keeping out most big money managers like mutual funds.
